Warwickshire Search and Rescue wins £1,000 festive boost thanks to Ecclesiastical Insurance

Warwickshire Search and Rescue has won a £1,000 festive financial boost thanks to nominations from the public.

Warwickshire Search and Rescue is one of 120 winning charities to receive an early Christmas gift of a £1,000 donation as part of specialist insurer Ecclesiastical’s annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and multiple lockdowns, our fund raising capability has been greatly impacted. These funds will help keep the team operational over the coming months and help us to support local communities in Warwickshire, Coventry, and Solihull.

Members of the public were invited to nominate a charity to win a share of £120,000 and Warwickshire Search and Rescue was amongst the winners which were drawn at random.

Ian Malins, Chair of Warwickshire Search and Rescue, said “Warwickshire Search and Rescue are delighted to have secured a grant of £1,000 from Ecclesiatical – Movement For Good’s 12 days of Christmas.

This is thanks to our supporters who have nominated us through social media during the festive period enabling us to get this grant. The grant is really welcomed at this time as our ability to fundraise has been severely curtailed during the pandemic as all our face to face fundraising opportunities were postponed.

As well as supporting Warwickshire Police and West Midlands Police in missing person searches, our team of volunteers has over the last 9 months also supported Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service, the local council resilience forums, the Trussell Trust and Morrisons with food parcel deliveries and logistical support. This grant will help to keep our service operational until we can resume our normal fundraising activities.”

Mark Hews, group chief executive at Ecclesiastical, said: “As a commercial company with a charitable purpose, giving back is at the heart of our business. We would like to thank every single person who took the time to nominate a good cause as part of our annual 12 days of giving Christmas campaign. We know that £1,000 can make a huge difference to the incredible work that charities do and we’re looking forward to seeing how this financial boost will change lives for the better.”
